Week at a Glance Hello Storrington Stingers,
We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Updated Covid-19 Screening Protocols and Family Reference Guide
Our partners at KFL&A Public Health have updated COVID-19 screening protocols to support safe and healthy school environments in our region in response to a new online school screening tool that was recently launched by the province.

The new online COVID-19 School Screening Tool is linked off the Board and all school websites and is available at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/. A printable/downloadable version of the tool is also available on the Board website. Translated versions of the screening tool will be available soon.

The COVID-19 School Reopening Family Reference Guide has been updated (September 22, 2020) to reflect several recent changes:
-New COVID-19 School Screening Tool
-Updated COVID-19 School Protocols
-KFLAPH Information Sheet for Families
-Outbreak Management/Protocol
-Confirmed Cases
-Transportation Contingency

Possible School Bus Cancellations
Tri-Board Student Transportation has indicated there will likely be more bus delays and cancellations this year due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Transportation to and from school is not guaranteed. Families should have a backup plan to transport their student(s) to school, and to arrange child care where required, if their bus is cancelled for any reason and they cannot transport their student to school.
Families should ensure they are signed up to receive direct notifications, either by email, or Tri-Board’s app. Delays and cancellations are also posted to Tri-Board’s Twitter account. Information on how to subscribe by email to specific bus routes and instructions on how to download the BusPlanner Delays App is available on the Tri-Board website.

Emergency Drills
On Thursday, October 1, our Stingers will be participating in the first fire drill of the school year.  These drills are important to ensure that students are aware of the expectations and routines in case of a fire.  Throughout the year, we will dedicate time to practice more fire drills and other important drills such as lockdown and hold and secure.  Please take the time to discuss the importance of these drills with your child(ren) and why we take the time to practice.

Orange Shirt Day
A reminder that Wednesday, September 30 is Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is a day to take action towards reconciliation and to honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada.  We ask that all students wear an orange shirt and we will be recognizing the importance of the day, through our morning announcements and class discussions and activities.

Terry Fox Run/Walk
Our Terry Fox Run/Walk is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30.  Stingers are still encouraged to bring in a loonie or toonie in support of cancer research and the Terry Fox Foundation.  Families can also donate online using the link:
