Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

It is hard to believe that we have less than two weeks to go in the 2020-2021 school year.  Although it has been a difficult year for staff, students and families, we are very proud of how our Stingers have persevered.  We look forward to the next two weeks and ending the year on a positive note!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Storrington Denounces Muslim Attack

We continue to grieve for the victims of the attack on a Muslim family in London, Ontario.  Our sympathies and condolences go out to everyone who has been affected by this senseless act. As a school, we remain committed to combating Islamophobia, racism and discrimination.  Through education around respect and diversity, we will continue to work with our students in creating a safe, positive and inclusive environment, both at school and globally.

Show Your True Colours Day

Thank you to all our Stingers who wore their favourite colour or their favourite colours for our Show Your True Colours Day, as a way to value and celebrate diversity.  Together, we all play a part in creating an inclusive and positive school environment where everyone feels welcomed.  Great job Stingers!

Remote Learning Update

We continue to be amazed at the dedication and commitment of our Storrington families.  You have all done an amazing job keeping the learning going.  Many classes have scheduled individual student times for assessments last week and this week.  These individual assessments will help next year’s teacher know your child’s level, which will assist us in knowing where to start with your child.

Pick-Up of Personal Belongings and Device/Technology Drop-Off

We know many of you have questions around the pick-up of your child’s belongings and device/technology drop-off.  The board is currently consulting with Public Health around creating guidelines for pick-up and drop-off.  Once we receive direction from the board, we will create a plan and share it with our parent community.  Information and details will be shared soon.

Mental Health Support for Families

Parents are encouraged to visit the School Mental Health Ontario website for more resources and activities to support mental health and well-being.  Information can be found by accessing the following website:  https://smho-smso.ca/parents-and-families/
