Two
student cases were identified on Dec. 9 resulting in two class cohorts being dismissed. Two student cases were identified in the same cohort on Dec. 7. One cohort was already isolating and one new cohort was dismissed. A previous case in a student on Dec. 4 resulted in one class cohort being directed to isolate.

Public Health declared an outbreak on Dec. 7. There are now seven active cases and four cohorts isolating. The school remains open and visitors are restricted at this time.

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

Families are encouraged to continue to monitor and screen students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. Vigilant screening is recommended. Do not send students to school if they are sick or symptomatic. If students have symptoms of COVID-19, book a PCR test at an assessment centre or participating pharmacy.

Please continue to follow all public health guidelines which include maintaining physical distance, wearing face coverings, and cleaning your hands frequently.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
