Hello Storrington Stingers,
We hope that all of our Stingers had a great Easter holiday and enjoyed the long weekend.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.
Storrington Clubs
Storrington P.S. has begun to offer clubs and activities again. Below is a list and description of some of the clubs that we are currently providing:
Running Club
Mrs. Freeland, Mme Dannenberg, Mrs. Kuhnke and Mrs. Saha has begun Running Club for students in Grades 3-8. They have been out running for the last couple of weeks and are working towards competing at the Bayridge and LCVI Road Races which take place at the end of April and early May.
Eco/Gardening Club
Mrs. Gifford, Mme Dannenberg and Mr. Pattison will be starting up Storrington Eco and Gardening club in the next couple of weeks for students in Grades 1-8. They will be working on beautifying the school garden and hopefully creating a new one. There will be opportunities for students in the primary grades as well as the community to participate.
Art Club
Ms. Saha is providing an opportunity for students in Grades 3-6 to practice their creativity through drawing and colouring. Students can follow a provided template or they can free-draw.
Skipping Club
Ms. Gifford is offering Skipping Club, for any students in Grades 2-8, who want to learn basic jump rope skills in single, long rope, and double dutch ropes. They will also be working on some tricks and playground games. This is a great introduction for anyone who is interested in joining the Jump Rope team next year.
Earth Day
Earth Day is on Friday, April 22. This is a day dedicated to bringing awareness to climate change and environmental disasters. It is also a day to recognize our role in ensuring we are doing our part to reduce our ecological footprint and working towards a greener Earth. During the day, classes will be participating in activities to pick up litter from our school yard and to beautify our gardens. We also encourage all our Stingers to wear green as we work towards a greener planet.
Storrington Forest of Reading
Our Storrington Stingers have been reading many amazing Canadian books written by nominated authors in 4 different categories. On Thursday, April 28, our Stingers will participate in our Forest of Reading Voting Day. Students will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite book and contribute towards selecting the Forest of Reading Award winners for this year. As well, the classes that read the most amount of books will have the opportunity to win a pizza party.
Water Bottles
With the warmer weather and lots of outdoor play, our Stingers are encouraged to ensure that they have their own water bottles. Our water fountains are still closed but bottle filling stations are available.
