Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that this email finds you all well and healthy.  As we move into the second week of online learning, we continue to be amazed with our Storrington community.  We know that this way of learning comes with a steep learning curve and we truly admire everyone’s patience, support, and perseverance as we proceed forward.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Remote Learning Update

We currently don’t have a scheduled date for return to face-to-face learning.  We are very hopeful that the provincial government will make an announcement soon indicating a return date.  All updates and information will be shared with our school community.

Attendance During Remote Learning

We will be taking attendance the same way we did the last time we were doing remote learning. A student is marked absent when there is no evidence of learning (synchronous or asynchronous) for the past 24 hour period since attendance was last taken. If your child is marked absent, you will receive communication from the school regarding the unverified absence.  If you know your child won’t be participating in the learning for the day, please report their absence using SafeArrival or let their teacher know.

Technology Distribution/Pick-Up

If there are still families who require technology to facilitate virtual learning, please contact the school to arrange a pick-up time.

Please continue to follow the Storrington website at http://www.storrington.limestone.on.ca, the LDSB website at www.limestone.on.ca, the Storrington Twitter account at @StorrPS_LDSB and the LDSB Twitter account at @LimestoneDSB, for updates and information.

Mental Health and Well-Being

As you continue to support your child(ren) during this time, we encourage you to reach out to other families in the community to share ideas and strategies.  As well, take the time to access community or board resources to support your child’s mental health and well-being.  Parents are welcome to email or call the school if you have specific questions regarding mental health resources and/or supports that are available to support your child(ren).  Parents are also encouraged to visit the School Mental Health Ontario website for a list of resources and activities to support mental health and well-being.  Information can be found by accessing the following website:  https://smho-smso.ca/parents-and-families/
