Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

On behalf of all Storrington staff, we want to wish our Stingers a safe and healthy holiday break.  Hopefully, your holiday break is filled with moments you will remember and cherish.  As we reflect on another challenging school year, it is important that we continue to recognize everything to be grateful for.  As a staff, we are grateful for our Storrington community and everything that you have done to support our Stingers. We wish you all health and happiness and we can’t wait to see our Stingers in the new year.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Move to Remote Learning for the Week of December 13 to December 17

Due to the new KFLAPH COVID guidelines, impacting our ability to effectively staff the school for in-person learning, we will be moving to remote learning for the week of December 13 to December 17.  For students in classes, who have not yet moved to remote learning, please check your email for communication from your classroom teacher regarding the remote learning instructions and plans for this week.

COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing

To support the safe return of our Stingers, after the holiday break, the Limestone District School Board is providing COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing kits.  The use of these tests are completely voluntary but strongly encouraged.  If you have not received your testing kit, please contact the school during the week of December 13 to December 17 to arrange a time for pick-up.

Instructions for using the Rapid Antigen Test kit:

1. It is recommended students conduct the rapid tests every 3 to 4 days over the December break, on every Monday and Thursday beginning December 23, 2021 until all five tests have been used.

2. Rapid tests are only to be used when a child is asymptomatic (i.e., does not have any symptoms of COVID-19 and has not had any exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19).

3. Anyone with symptoms or who is identified as a close contact of a case should still get PCR testing. Rapid tests should not be used as a substitute for PCR tests for people with symptoms or for people who are close contacts of cases.

4. Follow all written instructions provided in the rapid test kit.

5. Watch a short video on how to complete your test: Take-home testing for

What to do after your test:

- You will know the outcome of the test within 15 minutes. If test results are negative, your student may attend school as usual. Even if your student tests negative, they should continue to adhere to all relevant Public Health directions.

- A student that receives a positive result on a rapid test should seek a confirmatory PCR test as soon as possible (ideally within 48 hours) at a local testing site or pharmacy that offers.

Non-Perishable Food Donations to Battersea United Church

Thank you to all our Stingers who brought in a non-perishable food donation in support of the Battersea United Church.  Our Stingers filled 7 boxes with food items.  We are very lucky to be part of such a caring school community!

If there are families who require technology to facilitate remote learning, please contact the school to arrange a pick-up time.
