Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We truly hope that you and your family had a safe and happy holiday.  We want to wish all our Stingers a Happy New Year!  We are looking forward to 2021 and the continued opportunity to work and learn with all of you.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Virtual Learning- January 4 to January 8

On Monday, December 21, 2020, the provincial government announced that elementary students would be pivoting to virtual learning from Monday, January 4, 2021, to Friday, January 8, 2021.  Classes are scheduled to return to in-class learning on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Our Storrington staff have been preparing for the transition to virtual learning.  Families will receive an email the morning of Monday, January 4 from your child’s classroom teacher.  Within the email, will be instructions on how to access your child’s Google Classroom and expectations for the week, which include times for Google Meets.  Learning tasks will also be posted to your child’s Google Classroom which can be completed and submitted.

Throughout the week, we ask that families continue to check their email for any updates or new information.  If families need to reach the school, you can contact the school as calls will be answered and school voice mail will be retrieved throughout the week.

We understand that these are challenging and difficult times.  We also know that virtual learning is not ideal for all students and families.  If you require any support throughout the week, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher through email or through your child’s Google Classroom.  We truly appreciate everyone’s patience, support, and perseverance as we transition through this process.

Technology Distribution/Pick-Up

If families require technology to facilitate virtual learning, technology can be picked up on Monday, January 4, and Tuesday, January 5, from 11:30 to 1:30.  Distribution of devices will occur by the main entrance (south entrance).  Tables and cones will be set-up to ensure social distancing.

Staffing News

We would like to take this opportunity to share some staffing news with the Storrington community. Ms. Bolthouse, our Grade 2/3 teacher, will be leaving us on Tuesday, January 5.  We wish Ms. Bolthouse all the best in her next journey.  As difficult as it is to say goodbye to Ms. Bolthouse, we would like to welcome Ms. Skinner to our Storrington community.  We know that Ms. Skinner will be a welcome addition to our Stinger team and we look forward to working with her.
