Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that this email finds you all well and healthy.

We also hope that all our Stingers had a great March Break and were able to get lots of rest and relaxation.  We look forward to seeing all our Stingers on Monday morning.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Updates to Covid 19 Health Protocols

On Wednesday, March 9, the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health announced a number of provincial directives impacting schools.

Below are the important updates from the province:

The provincial screening tool has been further amended to align with federal requirements, and to take into account different vaccination circumstances.  The screening tool will advise on any isolation requirements for your particular situation, but in general, household members of COVID-positive or symptomatic individuals do not have to self-isolate if:

(a) they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days;

(b) are older than 18 and have received their booster dose (three doses); or

(c) are younger than 18 and are fully immunized (two doses).  Household members who do not meet these criteria must self-isolate.

Click here for the updated screening tools.

Masking and cohorting mandates for schools and on school transportation will be lifted following March Break, as of March 21, 2022. While the masking mandate has been lifted, all students, families, and staff who choose to continue masking are encouraged to do so.  All individuals with underlying health issues are also encouraged to continue to wear a mask.  It should be noted that family members of symptomatic individuals in their household must wear a mask for 10 days and not participate in school-based activities where wearing a mask is not possible.  For example, music class or high impact athletics.  Masking is also required upon return from international travel.

Other current protocols impacted as of Monday March 21:

(a) restrictions will be lifted for athletic activities and music,

(b) public health capacity limits for indoor activities will be removed.

Rapid Antigen Tests will continue to be available for students and staff for symptomatic testing or returning from an unplanned absence.

Screening daily for COVID-19 symptoms continues to be a requirement.  Staff and students are directed to stay home if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.

World Down Syndrome Day- Monday, March 21

Monday, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day.  It is a day to observe and create awareness about Down Syndrome.  The date is the 21st day of the 3rd month to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.  Staff and students are encouraged to wear odd socks to show your support for World Down Syndrome Day.

Feedback on Budget Priorities for 2022

The Limestone District School Board is seeking feedback on the development of its 2022-2023 Budget. Trustees value input from parents, guardians, school councils, members of the community, staff and students. Please take a few minutes to share your ideas and identify priority areas that you think may best serve students' needs for the upcoming school year.

The survey is open from March 4 – March 25, 2022. https://bit.ly/BudgetSurvey2022-2023

All information collected will be summarized and reviewed at the Budget Committee meeting on April 20, 2022.

You may wish to review the 2021-2022 LDSB Budget for background and context, which will serve as the basis for next year’s budget.

Outdoor Clothing

During the springtime, certain areas of our yard often become very wet and muddy.  Although we try to limit student access to these areas, accidents do occur.  We encourage our younger Stingers to come to school with an extra set of clothing, rubber boots and splash pants.

Kindergarten Online Registration for 2022-2023 School Year
