Hello Storrington Stingers,
We hope that this email finds you all well and healthy.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.
Dental Screening
The dental screening for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2, that was scheduled for Thursday, March 24, had to be rescheduled. The rescheduled date is Wednesday, April 6.
Earth Hour 2022
This year, Earth Hour was recognized globally on Saturday, March 26. At Storrington, we recognized Earth Hour 2022 on Friday, March 25. Earth Hour is an opportunity to raise awareness of environmental issues both locally and globally. On Friday, from 11:45 to 12:45, we reduced the lighting and limited technology use to show our commitment to reducing our ecological footprint and our commitment towards a greener planet.
National Indigenous Peoples’ Languages Day
On Thursday, March 31, 2022, we will recognize National Indigenous Peoples’ Languages Day. It is a day to celebrate and honour the strength and endurance of Indigenous Language and Culture Champions in bringing awareness to the importance of Indigenous languages, cultures and teachings.
World Autism Awareness Day
World Autism Awareness Day is on Saturday, April 2, 2022. On Friday, April 1, we will take the time to recognize and spread awareness for the rights of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of individuals with ASD.
On Friday, each student will decorate a popsicle stick to represent themselves (i.e., their name, drawings of things they like). When completed, we will glue them all together on a canvas to 'Celebrate the Spectrum,' the diversity that makes each one of us unique and the magic that happens when we all come together. We are also encouraging students to wear tie dye on Friday, April 1 to further celebrate and recognize the day.
Kiwanis Club of Kingston and Staples Kingston Donation
On behalf of the staff and students at Storrington, we want to send a big thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Kingston and to both Staples locations in Kingston, for their generous donation of 6 new chromebooks to Storrington Public School. This is just another example of how fortunate we are to have the support of amazing local community organizations and partnerships.

We are very lucky to be in an area that has two great soccer programs, Pegasus AC Soccer and Storrington Minor Soccer Club. If you are interested in registering your child for soccer, the websites are below:

Covid 19 Health Protocols
The provincial screening tool has been further amended to align with federal requirements, and to take into account different vaccination circumstances. The screening tool will advise on any isolation requirements for your particular situation, but in general, household members of COVID-positive or symptomatic individuals do not have to self-isolate if:
(a) they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days;
(b) are older than 18 and have received their booster dose (three doses); or
(c) are younger than 18 and are fully immunized (two doses). Household members who do not meet these criteria must self-isolate.
Click here for the updated screening tools.
