Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend and are well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Dress Loud Day

Friday, May 27 is our Storrington Dress Loud Day.  It is a day for our Stingers to wear their most wild, colourful and LOUD outfits to school to support the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Mental Health Kits from Storrington School Council

Our Storrington School Council applied for a PRO Grant with the goal to engage families in their child(ren)’s learning while encouraging ways to promote visual arts, science, mental health and well-being. This is a great way for students and their families to spend time together learning, being creative and using the resources to encourage activities that support mental health and wellness. This week, each Storrington Stinger will receive a kit that includes a seed and peat pellet for the plant and a paint brush, art canvas and paints.

Napanee and Kington 2022 Pride Parades

Limestone District School Board is excited to participate in both the Napanee and Kingston 2022 Pride Parades! Students, staff, and families are ALL invited to join LDSB at one or both parades. The Pride Parade in Napanee is on June 5 at 11:00 am and the Pride Parade in Kingston is on June 18 at 11:00 am. Details to come on meeting times and locations. We hope to see our Stingers representing our Storrington community.

Break the Silence - Break the Chains Presentation

Limestone District School Board will be hosting a Parent/Guardian and Community presentation on Human Trafficking Awareness in the evening of June 8th from 7:00 – 8:30. This event is being held at the Tett Center 270 King Street West Kingston. Doug van der Horden (Adolescent Care Worker and founder of FAST101) will share how to prevent and eliminate Human Trafficking. This session will be free and will also be a offered virtually as well as in person. Families can register for the session this link Human Trafficking Awareness - Parent/Guardian & Community Session

Tick Checks

With the summer weather, students and classes are spending more time outside.  Unfortunately, this means that there’s a greater chance of coming in contact with ticks.  Although, classroom teachers will often have students do tick checks on themselves, we encourage families to do tick checks every night.

School Day Forms

This week, School Day forms went home with students.  Please make sure to review the form and subscribe to School Day.

-If a household member has tested positive and your child is not fully vaccinated (2 doses) they must also self-isolate.

-If a household member has tested positive and your child is fully vaccinated and has no symptoms, they must wear a mask for 10 days.

-Upon return of a positive test and after 5 days of isolation, students and staff must wear a mask in all public settings for Day 6 to 10.

-If you have returned from international travel in the last 14 days, you must wear a mask for 14 days in all public settings.
