Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend and are well and healthy.  On behalf of all the Storrington Stingers, we want to wish all the moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Running Club

Our Storrington Stingers were happy to compete in Road Races once again.  Runners from grade 3 to 8 committed to daily practices during recess in preparation for two Road Races.  The Bayridge Road Race was held on April 27th and the LCVI Road Race was held on May 4th.  Storrington Stingers represented their school in each category, Atom boys/girls, Bantom boys/girls, and midget boys/girls.  Congratulations Road Runners, we had a fantastic season!

Track and Field

On Friday, May 20, we will be holding our Storrington Track and Field Meet for students in Grades 3 to 8.  The results from the day, as well as participation in practices, will help determine our school track and field team for the track and field meets at the Invista Centre.  Our Kindergarten and primary classes will be holding their own Play Day later in the school year.

Grade 8 Grad Trip Fundraising

Our students in Grade 8 have started to plan and fundraise for their Grade 8 grad trip.  Two of our fundraisers include milkshake sales and Hat Day.  This Friday, for any Stingers who wish to participate, students can pay $2.00 and wear their hat throughout the school day.  All proceeds from milkshake sales and Hat Day will go directly towards the Grade 8 grad trip.

Mental Health Impacts on Students Presentation

On Thursday, May 12 from 7:00 to 9:00, Dr. Roberge, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, will be conducting a presentation at Frontenac Secondary School.  The presentation will focus on the mental health impacts on students during the Covid 19 pandemic.  The presentation is open to all families who wish to participate.

Covid 19 Health Protocols

The provincial screening tool has been further amended to align with federal requirements, and to take into account different vaccination circumstances.  The screening tool will advise on any isolation requirements for your particular situation.

-If a household member has tested positive and your child is not fully vaccinated (2 doses) they must also self-isolate.

-If a household member has tested positive and your child is fully vaccinated and has no symptoms, they must wear a mask for 10 days.

-Upon return of a positive test and after 5 days of isolation, students and staff must wear a mask in all public settings for Day 6 to 10.

-If you have returned from international travel in the last 14 days, you must wear a mask for 14 days in all public settings.
