Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Limestone Student Census

The census is now available for families to preview on the Board website along with other resources and frequently asked questions. There are three versions of the census: one for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students, which will be completed by families at home, a census for students in Grades 4 to 6 and a census for students in Grades 7 to 12. Students in Grades 4 to 12 will complete the survey during class time.

Families with children in Kindergarten to Grade 3 will soon receive (via progress report packages) a letter and resource package to help them complete the survey with their child.  The survey is confidential and completely voluntary; however, the data will only be helpful if we have healthy participation rates. A family can request that their child not participate by letting their school administration or classroom teacher know. A student can also decline to participate.

More information regarding the student census can be found on the LDSB website at: https://www.limestone.on.ca/board/studentcensus

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is from November 16 to November 20.  It is a week dedicated to bringing awareness to bullying and reflecting on the steps to prevent bullying behavior.  Throughout the week, staff will be implementing anti-bullying and bullying awareness lessons and activities into their daily programming  Our Stingers are also encouraged to wear a pink shirt for our LDSB Pink Shirt Day on Thursday, November 19.  Together, let’s show our Stinger pride and stand up to bullying.

Storrington Picture Day

Our Storrington Picture Day has been scheduled for Friday, December 11. Our school photographers, Lifetouch School Photography, will be adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 protocol, there will no picture retakes or class photos.

Water Bottles

Please ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle.  With our COVID-19 protocol, students aren’t able to use the water fountains but they are able to refill their water bottles using the water bottle filling stations.

Progress Reports

A reminder that Progress Reports go home on Friday, November 20th.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher by calling the school or by writing a note in your child’s agenda.

School Council Virtual Scholastic Book Fair

A reminder that our Storrington Stingers are holding a book fair again this year, from November 9th to November 23rd.

Covid-19 Screening Protocols and Family Reference Guide

Please take the time to complete the COVID-19 School Screening Tool, each morning, prior to your child attending school. If your child is feeling unwell, they must remain at home and depending on symptoms, may require a COVID-19 assessment.
