Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Limestone Student Census

Next week, students in Limestone will participate in the LDSB Student Census.  There are three versions of the census: one for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students, which will be completed by families at home, a census for students in Grades 4 to 6, and a census for students in Grades 7 to 12. Students in Grades 4 to 12 will complete the survey during class time.

Families with children in Kindergarten to Grade 3 should have received (via progress report packages) a letter and resource package to help them complete the survey with their child.  The survey is confidential and completely voluntary; however, the data will only be helpful if we have healthy participation rates. A family can request that their child not participate by letting their school administration or classroom teacher know. A student can also decline to participate.

More information regarding the student census can be found on the LDSB website at: https://www.limestone.on.ca/board/studentcensus

Inclement Weather/Bus Cancellations

As we approach winter weather conditions, it is important to stay informed regarding possible bus delays or cancellations.  There are several ways parents can stay up-to-date with bus information:

-Using Twitter, parents can follow @BusDelayNCancel.

-Download the Triboard BusPlanner Delays app.

-Subscribe to Triboard through email.

-Receive daily information by visiting http://triboard.ca.

For more information regarding how you can access bus delay or cancellation notifications, please visit: https://triboard.ca/busdelays/.

Inclement Weather and Attendance Reporting

All parents/guardians are asked to report their student’s absence regardless of the reason including during bus cancellations. Sometimes, bused students find alternative ways to school and we want to ensure we know the whereabouts of every student to ensure their safety and well-being. Knowing who is supposed to be at school, will allow school office staff to best ensure all students are accounted for.

When reporting your child’s absence on inclement weather days, please select one of the following:

·   Bus Cancellation as the reason for absence if your student is bused

·   Inclement Weather as the reason for the absence if your student walks but chooses not to attend

If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence.

Progress Reports

Now that Progress Reports have gone home, if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher by calling the school or by writing a note in your child’s agenda.

Equipment/Items from Home

Due to COVID restrictions and guidelines, we ask that students do not bring their own sports equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs), toys or other items to school.  All classes have outdoor activity bins that are filled with outdoor sports equipment and are wiped and disinfected on a daily basis.
