Week at a GlanceHello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers had a safe and healthy Halloween.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Virtual Open House
A reminder that classroom virtual open houses have been posted to each class’s Google Classroom.  To access your child’s virtual open house, please log into their Google Classroom.

Hold and Secure Drill
On Tuesday, November 3, we will be holding our first hold and secure drill.  The purpose of a hold and secure drill is to prepare students, in the event that there is a threat outside of the school building.  As with fire drills and other safety programs, practicing hold and secures help to prepare students and teachers for a procedure that they will be able to follow quickly, effectively, and safely. Please take the time to discuss, with your child, the importance of emergency drills in keeping everyone safe.

Indigenous Education Month
The month of November is Indigenous Education Month.  During the month, we will be taking the time to learn and deepen our understanding of Indigenous history, cultures, and traditions. Throughout the month, staff will be implementing Indigenous teachings, lessons, and activities into their daily programming.  Our Stingers will also recognize Treaties Recognition Week from November 4th to November 8th.  The week is dedicated to honoring the importance of treaties and helps students to learn more about treaty rights and relationships.

Girls Inc.
Girls Inc. Limestone provides life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic, and social barriers.  Due to COVID-19, Girls Inc. have had to change how they offer their programs.  They are currently providing a virtual afterschool program, a curbside visit and support program, and a virtual Monday night meet up.  For more information, please visit: girlsinclimestone.ca
