Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Limestone Student Census

The See Yourself in Limestone Student Census planned for the spring of 2020 had to be postponed due to COVID-19 school closures. Now that we have returned to school, the board has rescheduled this confidential survey for the week of November 23, 2020.

School boards across the province are asking students to complete this census to identify and eliminate discrimination and bias from schools and classrooms. The data collected through the census will help us learn more about our students – their backgrounds, experiences, and needs. All information on individual students will remain confidential.

The census, which will be completed during class time for students in Grades 4 to 12 (for both in-class and virtual learners), will ask students a variety of questions regarding their identity and demographics. Families of students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 will be asked to complete a survey for each primary student.  More information regarding the student census can be found on the LDSB website at: https://www.limestone.on.ca/board/studentcensus

Remembrance Day

On Wednesday, November 11, our Storrington Stingers will be commemorating Remembrance Day.  This is an opportunity for our Stingers to honor those who have served and continue to serve our country.  With the current COVID-19 guidelines, we are unable to come together as a school for an assembly. Instead, our Stingers will commemorate the day in their own classes, as each of the classes will watch a school created, virtual Remembrance Day assembly.  We encourage all our Stingers to wear red and black for Red, Black and Poppy Day.

School Council Virtual Scholastic Book Fair

A reminder that our Storrington Stingers are holding a book fair again this year, from November 9th to November 23rd. This year, all orders will be done virtually through our own Spotify link. 20% of the sales come back to the school. All orders will be shipped right to your door. All orders over $35 will qualify for free shipping. We will be sharing links for everything on the Storrington School Council Facebook page.

Outdoor Clothing

Due to our current COVID guidelines and expectations, we are trying to get our Stingers outside, as much as possible.  This is an opportunity for our Stingers to take off their masks and get some fresh air.  It is important that our Stingers come to school with the proper outdoor clothing suitable for various weather conditions (rain and snow).

Covid-19 Screening Protocols and Family Reference Guide

Please take the time to complete the COVID-19 School Screening Tool, each morning, prior to your child attending school. If your child is feeling unwell, they must remain at home and depending on symptoms, may require a COVID-19 assessment.

The online COVID-19 School Screening Tool is linked off the Board and all school websites and is available at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
