Week at a GlanceHello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Updated Covid-19 Screening Protocols and Family Reference Guide
As of October 1, 2020, our partners at KFL&A Public Health have updated COVID-19 screening protocols to support safe and healthy school environments in our region in response to a new online school screening tool that was recently launched by the province.
The new online COVID-19 School Screening Tool is linked off the Board and all school websites and is available at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
The first set of questions asks about symptoms such as fever or cough. Students and children with any of these symptoms will still be advised to stay home until they are able to consult with a health care provider and receive an alternative diagnosis or a negative COVID-19 test.
The second set of questions asks about other symptoms that are commonly associated with other illnesses, such as a runny nose or headache:
Students and children with only one of these symptoms will be advised to stay home for 24 hours, after which they can return to school or child care if their symptoms are improving.
Students and children with two or more of these symptoms will be advised to stay home until they are able to consult with a health care provider and receive an alternative diagnosis or a negative COVID-19 test.
A printable/downloadable version of the tool is also available on the Board website. Translated versions of the screening tool will be available soon.

Reporting Your Child’s Absence- COVID Related Absence
When reporting your child’s absence, there is a new absence code that should be used if the absence is COVID-related.  Please use the code, “COVID Related”, when:
-your child is sick with COVID 19 symptoms and are going for COVID testing
-your child is waiting for the results of the COVID test
-you have decided to self-isolate your child for 14 days

Equipment/Items from Home
Due to COVID restrictions and guidelines, we ask that students do not bring their own sports equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs) or toys to school.  All classes have outdoor activity bins that are filled with outdoor sports equipment and are wiped and disinfected on a daily basis.

Mask Care/Maintenance
A friendly reminder around the importance of following these guidelines for maintenance of masks:
-Make sure the mask isn’t torn or worn out.
-Make sure the mask covers your nose, mouth and chin, leaving no gaps on the sides.
-Make sure your mask is clean.  If your mask gets dirty, change it, or wash it.

Terry Fox Run/Walk
Thank you to all our Stingers for their participation in our Terry Fox Run/Walk.  Collectively, we raised over $250.00 in support of cancer research and the Terry Fox Foundation.  Great job Stingers!
