Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Happy Thanksgiving

We want to wish our Storrington community a happy Thanksgiving.  We hope it was a weekend of gratitude and reflection.  On behalf of all the staff at Storrington, we want to thank our Stingers and are truly grateful for the continued support of our families and school community.

School Photo Orders and Retakes

School photo orders are due back to the school on Wednesday, October 20.  Our photo retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 27.

Terry Fox Run

Thank you to all our Stingers for their participation in our Terry Fox Run.  Collectively, we raised over $983.80 in support of cancer research and the Terry Fox Foundation.  This year, we raised over $600 more than our total from last year.  Great job Stingers!

Storrington Cross Country Team

On Thursday, October 14, our Storrington Cross Country team will be competing in the Cross Country Regional Championships at Fort Henry Hill.  We want to wish all our Stingers good luck and we know that they will all make us proud!

Classroom Treats

With the COVID guidelines, we are unable to accept classroom treats from students/families.  Please do not send in any baked goods or classroom treats with your child for special occasions such as Halloween, birthdays, Christmas, etc.

Storrington Spirit Wear

A reminder that Spirit Wear order forms are due to the school by Friday, October 22nd to ensure that clothing is delivered before the Christmas holidays.

Reporting Your Child’s Absence- COVID Related Absence

When reporting your child’s absence, there is a new absence code that should be used if the absence is COVID-related.  Please use the code, “COVID Related”, when:

-your child is sick with COVID-19 symptoms and are going for COVID testing

-your child is waiting for the results of the COVID test

-you have decided to self-isolate your child for 10 days

Importance of Daily Screening

A friendly reminder to our school community around the importance of screening your child every morning using the COVID-19 School & Child Care Screening Tool.

Prior to students attending school, please assess for the following Covid-19 related symptoms:

Fever and/or Chills

New or worsening cough

Barking cough

Shortness of breath

Decrease or loss of taste or smell

Digestive issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain)

If a child displays one or more of these symptoms, the school will be contacting parents to come and pick up their child.  Your child and their siblings will have to go home and self-isolate until:

-they receive a negative Covid test result, or

-they receive an alternative diagnosis from a health care professional, or

-it has been 10 days since their symptom onset.
