Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Digital Acceptable Use and Freedom of Information Form

All Limestone District School Board families are required to fill out a Digital Acceptable Use and Freedom of Information form for each of their children who attend Storrington.

The LDSB is committed to providing and maintaining safe and appropriate environments conducive to learning and working for all.  The Digital Acceptable Use form outlines and defines the expectations for appropriate student use of technology devices and the internet.

As well, the LDSB, under the authority of the Education Act, as amended, collects personal information about each student from both the student and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s). The Board is proud of our students and their achievements; however, in order for us to release personal information about students and/or their achievements, and for other administrative purposes, parent/guardian consent is required to comply with the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act.

To access the form, please visit: Digital Acceptable Use and Freedom of Information Form

Staffing News

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Manosi Saha to the Storrington staff.  Through the staffing process, Ms. Saha was the successful candidate for our Planning Time position.  We look forward to working and learning with Ms. Saha and we know that she will be an amazing addition to the Stinger community.

Pumpkins from Sands Hill Farm

At Storrington, we are very lucky to have a supportive and generous school community.  Last week, Ken Sands from Sands Hill Farm provided all our students from Kindergarten to Grade 4 a free pumpkin. A huge thank you to Ken and everyone else at Sands Hill Farm for their generosity.

Dress Purple Day

On Wednesday, October 27, we encourage our Stingers to wear purple to show their support towards families facing challenges and that together, we can support vulnerable families in our community.  The day is organized by Children’s Aid Societies to raise awareness about the community supports that are available and how to access them.

School Photo Orders and Retakes

A reminder that our photo retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 27.

Black and Orange Day

A reminder that we are encouraging all our Stingers to wear black and orange on Friday, October 29.  We kindly ask that students do not wear their Halloween costumes or bring in their costume accessories.

Hot Lunch

This week, information will be sent home with students regarding hot lunch ordering through the Lunchbox Program.  Our ordering window will be online and will open on Tuesday, October 26 for families to order from Paradisio.

Storrington Cross Country Team

On Thursday, October 21, our Storrington Cross Country team competed in the Cross Country District Championships at Fort Henry Hill. All of our Stingers did an amazing job and our atom boys finished third in the district.

A big thank you to Mrs. Dannenberg, Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Freeland and Mrs. Kuhnke for all their hard work and dedication coaching our Storrington cross country team.

Storrington Spirit Wear

Thank you to all our Stingers who ordered spirit wear.  We will communicate with families once the order arrives and is ready for distribution.

Reporting Your Child’s Absence- COVID Related Absence

When reporting your child’s absence, there is a new absence code that should be used if the absence is COVID-related.  Please use the code, “COVID Related”, when:

-your child is sick with COVID-19 symptoms and are going for COVID testing

-your child is waiting for the results of the COVID test

-you have decided to self-isolate your child for 10 days

Importance of Daily Screening

A friendly reminder to our school community around the importance of screening your child every morning using the COVID-19 School & Child Care Screening Tool.

Prior to students attending school, please assess for the following Covid-19 related symptoms:

Fever and/or Chills

New or worsening cough

Barking cough

Shortness of breath

Decrease or loss of taste or smell

Digestive issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain)

If a child displays one or more of these symptoms, the school will be contacting parents to come and pick up their child.  Your child and their siblings will have to go home and self-isolate until:

-they receive a negative Covid test result, or

-they receive an alternative diagnosis from a health care professional, or

-it has been 10 days since their symptom onset.
