Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers are staying well and healthy.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Storrington Spirit Day

Thank you to all our Stingers who wore their Storrington spirit wear and/or Storrington colours.  We had lots of students participate and show their Stinger pride!  Great job Stingers and we look forward to showing our Stinger pride on our next Spirit Day.

School Organization

Last week, schools were informed of their approved school organization for the current school year.  We are very fortunate to not have to reorganize this year and our current organization of 9 classes will remain the same.

International Week of the Deaf

During the week of September 21 to September 25, our Storrington Stingers  will recognize the International Week of the Deaf.  This is a week dedicated to recognizing and bringing awareness about the deaf community and to promote the human rights of deaf people.

Orange Shirt Day

On Wednesday, September 30, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day.  Orange Shirt Day is a day to take action towards to reconciliation and to honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada.  We ask that all students wear an orange shirt and we will be recognizing the importance of the day, through our morning announcements and class discussions and activities.

Terry Fox Run/Walk

Our Terry Fox Run/Walk is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30.  This year, students will commemorate the day by walking around the track.  As well, since this years marks 40 years of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, we are challenging our Stingers to do 40 of something (ie. 40 push-ups, 40 sit-ups, etc.).

We are encouraging our Stingers to bring in a loonie or toonie in support of cancer research and the Terry Fox Foundation.  Families can also donate online using the link:

Hi Stinger families,

A reminder that our first parent council meeting is on Tuesday, September 29th at 8:15 pm.  As previously indicated, we will be holding our council meetings virtually and will be using Microsoft Teams.  The following link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software can be used to access the platform or you can download the Microsoft Teams app.  If you’re interested in participating in the meeting, we ask that you sign up in advance of the meeting.

Please email our council chair, Brittany Smith, at mrssmith2010@gmail.com to be added to the meeting.

We will be holding elections, so if you are interested in running for a  position (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Social Media Liason), please submit your nomination to Ean Pattison at pattisonean@limestone.on.ca

If you’re not interested in being an elected member, but would like to be more involved or see what we do, then please feel free to join.  If you have any questions at all, please ask. We will do our best to answer your questions as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Storrington Parent Council

Storrington Fanny Packs

All students will receive their fanny packs on Monday.  To ensure that fanny packs are always available for students to store their masks, we are going to have students keep their fanny packs at school.

Storrington Spirit Wear

On Thursday, September 24th, students will receive a spirit wear order form.  Students will have the opportunity to purchase school clothing, water bottles, pencils and many more items.  We ask that order forms are completed and handed in by Friday, October 23rd to ensure that clothing is delivered before the Christmas holidays.
