Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

It was great to see all the excitement and happy faces on our first days of school.  Although it looks and feels a little different, it has been great getting back into the school routine.  Our Stingers are doing an amazing job learning and following the new routines and protocols to ensure that we’re keeping everyone safe and healthy.  Keep up the awesome work everyone!

A big thank you to our parent community for all their support in following the new morning drop-off and dismissal pick-up expectations.  We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility as we transition to these new expectations.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines, we will not be running the hot lunch or milk programs at this time.  We will update parents if this changes.

Agendas will be distributed to students this week. Please use this as a tool for communication with the school and classroom teacher. We encourage all students to bring in $5.00 to cover the costs of the agenda.

At the beginning of each school year, there are many forms that need to be signed and returned. We ask that all parents review, sign and return any applicable forms. This information is important to ensure that we have up-to-date information and contact numbers.

It is also very important that students are screened every morning, prior to coming to school, for the following Covid-19 related symptoms:

New or worsening cough
Barking cough
Shortness of breath
Sore throat
Difficulty swallowing
Runny, stuffy or congested nose
Lost sense of taste or smell
Pink eye
Headache that’s unusual or long lasting
Digestive issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
Muscle Aches
Extreme tiredness
Falling down often
Sluggishness or lack of appetite

If a child displays one or more of these symptoms, the school will be contacting parents to come and pick up their child and to take them to an assessment centre or their health care provider.

If your child borrowed technology during remote learning, we ask that you send it in with your child as soon as possible.  Please remember to wipe it down and send it in a plastic bag.

All elementary students who have opted out of face-to-face learning will be provided with learning activities from their home school classroom educator on September 8 and until September 24, 2020. The home school classroom educator will monitor progress of learning during this period through periodic check-ins (e.g. emails, phone calls home).

A reminder to all parents that the opt-in/out deadline is Monday, September 14.  If you have previously chosen to opt your child out of in-class learning and would like to opt back in, please let the school know.  Alternatively, if you would like to opt-out of in-class learning, please connect with the school to discuss next steps.
