Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

It was great to see all the excitement and happy faces on our first days of school.  Although it still looks and feels a little different, it has been great getting back into the school routine.  Our Stingers are doing an amazing job re-learning and following the routines and protocols to ensure that we’re keeping everyone safe and healthy.  Keep up the awesome work everyone!

A big thank you to our parent community for all their support ensuring that we’re all following the public health guidelines and expectations.  We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility as we work together in keeping everyone safe.

Agendas

Agendas will be distributed to students this week. Please use this as a tool for communication with the school and classroom teacher. We encourage all students to bring in $3.00 to cover the costs of the agenda.

Data Verification Forms

At the beginning of each school year, data verification forms are sent home for parents to review, sign and return. This information is important to ensure that we have up-to-date information and current contact numbers.

School Organization

Last week, schools were informed of their approved school organization for the current school year.  We are very fortunate to not have to reorganize this year and our current organization of 9 classes will remain the same.

Storrington Stinger Spirit Days

Every Thursday, we encourage our Storrington Stingers to wear their school spirit wear or school colours.  Let’s show our Stinger pride and all dress up in our black, yellow and white school colours!

End of Day Sign-Out

If you need to pick your child up early for an appointment, please make sure to let the school know either through your child’s agenda or by calling the office.  Any phone requests after 3:15, may not be accommodated as classes are usually in the process of end of day routines.

Threat/Risk Assessment Notification Process

The Limestone District School Board and community partners are committed to making our schools safe for students and staff. As a result, schools will respond to all student behaviours that pose a potential risk to other students, staff, and members of the community. The Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment Process is designed to be proactive in developing intervention plans that address the emotional and physical safety of those involved. A Threat/Risk Assessment is initiated by the school administration or community partners when behaviours have been identified by staff or students that pose a potential risk to self and/or others. Please note: it is important for all parties to support the Violence Threat Risk Assessment Process. However, if for some reason there is a reluctance to participate in the process, by the student of concern or parent/guardian, the threat assessment process will continue in order to ensure a safe and caring environment for all. Families are asked to review the steps of a Threat/Risk Assessment online at http://bit.ly/LDSBthreatassessment.

News from our Parent Council for the 2021-2022 School Year

Hi Stinger families,

If you’re interested in representing our school community and making decisions to support our school, we welcome you to join our Storrington school council.  We will be having our first parent council meeting on Wednesday, Sept 29th at 6:30 pm, in the school parking lot.

We will be holding elections, so if you are interested in running for a  position, please submit your nomination to Brittany Smith at mrssmithest2010@gmail.com

Available elected positions on the council are:

Chair

Secretary

Treasurer

Social Media Liaison

Indigenous Family Representative

We will provide a brief description of what each position entails on our Facebook site. If you haven’t already joined, then please do.  We try to keep everyone as up-to-date as possible.

If you’re not interested in being an elected member, but would like to be more involved or see what we do, please feel free to join.  We are always looking for our school council to be reflective of the school community, so the more members, the better.

If you are planning on attending our meeting on September 29th, please remember to wear a mask, to stay socially distanced and to bring a lawn chair.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email. We will do our best to answer your questions as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Storrington Parent Council
