Family Update December 1-5, 2025
Happy Monday, Stingers Families!
Last week was very fun for all ages at Storrington! Many of our junior/intermediate students played in Volleyball tournaments. Thank you to our coaches and families for making the tournaments possible!
The Touch the Truck Event was also a huge success! Despite the wind and colder temperatures, Kindergarten to Grade 3 students enjoyed their time learning about the vehicles in our parking lot – Hydro, Fire, and Police! Thank you to the staff and families who made that experience possible. I’m sure most students went home last week talking about this adventure in the school parking lot!
We have 15 school days left before the Winter Break! It’s going to be 3 weeks full of spirit, giving, and gathering! Please come back to this newsletter as needed.
We are collecting donations for the Battersea community starting today!
Our local charities need the following:
- canned soups and stews
- cereal (preferably Cheerios or Rice Krispies)
Classes will keep a tally of how many items are brought in, and the class that gives the most will receive a pizza party and be featured in the Frontenac News! It's the Great CAN-tastic Classroom Challenge!
Please remember to send in your pizza order forms as soon as possible – 1 per family, please. Our School Council needs to know how much pizza to order for Thursday night!
Bus Safety Reminder – Parking Lot Safety
With winter snow and icy roads almost here, a reminder to families dropping off or picking up students to please wait for school buses to come to a complete stop before walking around or near them. Waiting just a few extra seconds will help keep all our students safe. Thank you for your support of student safety.
December 16 – Holiday Concert
Our Winter Wonderland Holiday Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 5:30-6:30 pm.
December 4 - Snow Social!
**We do encourage you to bring a food donation to this event! Thank you!
December 6 – Battersea Santa Claus Parade
If you and your Storrington students are interested in participating in the Battersea Santa Claud Parade, please contact our School Council directly – pc.storrington@gmail.com. They will be organizing the group of participants. Here are some parade details:
“The annual Battersea Santa Claus parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m.. The parade will start at Storrington Public School and proceed down Battersea Road through the village.”
Tentative Storrington Night at the Kingston Frontenacs Game
Please mark your calendars for March 6, game time is 7:05 pm. Details about tickets will be shared in January. It’s going to be a fun evening! Let’s fill the stands!
Indoor Shoes
It’s that time of year again – muddy, wet boots! Please ensure your student has a pair of indoor shoes at school every day. This will ensure they have something on their feet while in the building! The floors without shoes are slippery, and we want to avoid any falls. Also, students must have supportive footwear in the gym. Thank you!
Weeks Ahead
You will see all the school days in December below. I will be adding to this calendar weekly! We still need to add in Spirit Days, door decorating, and sing-alongs!
