Family Update – January 19-23, 2026
Happy Monday, Stinger Families!
Due to bus cancellations last week, our school-wide assembly will now take place on Tuesday, January 20, at 12:30 pm. This assembly is planned to remind all students about recess expectations and safety. At this assembly, we will also recognize outstanding student attendance and winners from the Legion’s Remembrance Day contest!
Thank you to the parent volunteers who supported our school’s fundraiser at the Battersea Community Dance on Friday night! Thank you for your time and commitment!
Inclement Weather Days
As a staff, we want to be fully transparent about what happens on “snow days” when school buses are cancelled. Educators provide literacy (including Core French) and math instruction every day. Students who are not meeting literacy benchmark or who are behind in math fluency or content areas, but are at school, do receive Lexia (if applicable) and targeted/explicit instruction – even on “snow days”. This looks like small groups, one-to-one support, and whole class instruction.
We are proud of our commitment to student achievement.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to connect with your student’s teacher. They would be happy to chat about your specific circumstances on bus cancellation days and plan with you.
We have indeed had an unprecedented number of bus cancellation days so far this school year. Please know that we have no control over these cancellations. We are working on a school-wide plan to increase the support for students who need to stay home on these days due to safety and accessibility.
Kindergarten Registration – 2026-2027
It’s that time of year! Families who have a child born in 2022 can register them for year 1 (JK) of LDSB’s Full Day Kindergarten Program. A child born in 2021 would register for year 2 (SK) of the program. Please share this information widely: https://www.limestone.on.ca/kindergarten
