Family Update – June 22-26

This is my final Family Update of the school year. At today’s assembly, we watched the school year unfold in pictures during the slideshow that Mme Dannenberg prepared. The learning experiences, moments for growth, and extracurricular opportunities that Storrington Stingers enjoyed this year were plentiful! I am honoured to have been part of this beautiful school community this year. I hope you take a moment on the school year – the highs, the lows, and goals for next year while everything is still “fresh” before the summer break.

If there is something you would like to happen at Storrington next year, please send me an email - wellwoods@limestone.on.ca - and I will share with Ms. Domingo as she plans for an amazing 2026-2027 school year!

I wish every Storrington Stinger and their family happiness, wellness, and success in their future endeavors. I hope our paths will cross again in the future.

At our assembly this morning, we celebrated and recognized students. At our assembly on Thursday morning, we will celebrate and recognize Storrington staff who work tirelessly for the success of all students at Storrington. We will also commemorate the retirees – Mme Dannenberg and Mrs. Roberts. We will also celebrate Lunch Supervisor MJ, who is retiring. Families are welcome to attend the assembly on Thursday. It will begin at about 9:20 am and be about 1 hour in length.

Congratulations - Grade 8 Graduates!

We are proud of you, and we hope you enjoy your graduation ceremony this evening!

Parking and Early Pickup

It’s a very busy and exciting time of year! For the safety of our students, if you are picking your student up early, please park in a parking spot. Please allow the buses to leave the parking lot when they are loaded. If you arrive after 3:15 pm, please wait for your student to be dismissed at 3:35 pm. Thank you for your support.

Also, a gentle reminder to please stop at the main office, and Storrington staff will assist you.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks arrived today! They will be organized and distributed to students on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Please keep an eye on backpacks!

Water Day

Wednesday is Water Day! Students should dress according to the weather and bring a bathing suit and towel. If it’s a nice sunny day, students will stay outside to dry, so please be mindful of sun protection. Students may also choose to bring an extra set of clothing instead of wearing a bathing suit. It is also advised for students to keep shoes on their feet during the festivities. I would hate for someone to step on anything sharp. Water Day begins at about 11:45 am, after first recess.

Kone Ice Truck

Thank you to all the families who purchased snow cones as and helped our Student Council raise money one last time this year. We only had a few students who did not purchase a snow cone. We are thankful that we are in a position to purchase a small snow cone for these students.

*If you did not purchase a snow cone because you do not wish for your student to receive one, or they will be absent, please send me an email – wellwoods@limestone.on.ca – as soon as possible. The Kona truck will be arriving around 12:30 pm.

Staffing Updates and Class Organization

As you know, Mme Anita Dannengerg and Mrs. Joelle Roberts will be retiring at the end of June. We will continue to celebrate them and their beautiful careers as educators. At the end of June, we will also be saying goodbye and best wishes to Mrs. Laura Kuhnke, who will be teaching Kindergarten at Truedell next year. In September, Ms. Kennedy will be back in her Planning Time role. Mrs. Renaud will also be returning to Storrington following her itinerant Math position this past year.

Mrs. Sarah McDonald, EA, will be moving to La Salle Secondary School. She will be missed by the students she supports, and we know she will make a positive impact at La Salle. Support Staff changes are still possible over the summer.

We will also be saying goodbye (and hopefully, see you soon) to Mrs. Lacey Charron, EA, who was in a 1-year position at Storrington. She supported and learned alongside our youngest students at Storrington. We wish her the best and thank her for her positive contributions to Storrington this past year.

I would also like to thank Mrs. Becky Plumb for stepping into a half-time then full-time EA role at Storrington this year. She connects so well with students and is helpful to all.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome new staff to Storrington! We have Mme Paterson joining us as Core French with some Planning Time. We also have Ms. Boese, who will be teaching Grade 1 /2.

We also welcome Ms. Walker, EA, to Storrington!

Although changes are still possible, I wanted to share the following school organization with families:

1/2 B – Ms. Boese
