Dear Families,
As you may have heard, I have replaced Mr. Taylor as the interim Principal while Mrs. Wellwood continues her recovery. My name is Liz Suriyuth, and I am a former Principal at Storrington Public School. I am now retired, but was very excited for the opportunity to be back! In fact, many of the current Grade 8 students were in Senior Kindergarten when I left Storrington, so it has been nice to see them before they head off to secondary school! Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. Just a reminder that March Break is next week, March 16-20. We wish everyone a fun and safe break and look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, March 23.
On behalf of Storrington staff, I would like to share that office administrator extraordinaire, Cayla Gordon, has accepted a new position at Central Public School. We are very excited for the next steps in her journey, but she will be greatly missed by her Storrington Community. Currently, the plan is that Ms. Cayla will remain at Storrington until March 27th.
Here are a few more updates:
Winter Olympic Play Day:
We were so happy that the weather cooperated and we were able to hold the Winter Olympic Play Day last Friday. Many thanks to Mrs. Freeland and her student leaders from Mr. Freeland’s class, as well as the Staff Leaders at each event! Students from all grades had lots of fun going to the different event stations!
Spirit Day this Friday, March 13:
We have an upcoming Spirit Day this Friday, March 13. Students are encouraged to wear green, white, and orange to show their Irish spirit for an early St. Patrick’s Day.
Spring Talent Show
Last week, there was a meeting at recess for all students who are interested in participating in the Spring Talent Show. Auditions will be held after March Break. We will send out more information once the dates are finalized.
School Year Calendar for 2026-27:
The new 2026-27 school year calendar has been approved. The first day of classes for students will be September 2, 2026. There is a PA Day for all staff on September 1, 2026. You can find more information about next year’s calendar here on the LDSB website.
Budget Survey:
Please complete the Budget Survey at the link below if you are interested in providing input to the Trustees on the Limestone District School Board budget planning process for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. The survey is anonymous and can be accessed online at bit.ly/2026-2027LDSBBudgetSurvey . The survey closes March 23, 2026.
Kindergarten Registration – 2026-2027
It’s that time of year! Families who have a child born in 2022 can register their child for year 1 (JK) of LDSB’s Full Day Kindergarten Program. A child born in 2021 would register for year 2 (SK) of the program. Please share this information widely: https://www.limestone.on.ca/kindergarten
To find the name and location of your in-boundary or home school, enter the student’s home address into Tri-Board's “Locate A School” tool.
Our Kindergarten team is exceptional – Storrington is a great place to learn and play!
