Stinger Family Update – May 4-8, 2026
Good evening!
I want to thank families for their support of our Talent Show and Art Gallery last week! Storrington students definitely “have talent”, and this was a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents and bravery! Events like this are possible because staff are committed to student wellbeing – Thank you, Storrington staff!
This week is “Teacher Appreciation Week”! If you would like to help celebrate Storrington’s amazing educators, I encourage you to help your student write a letter or note to their teacher. They may have more than one!
This week, our Junior Basketball teams will attend their tournaments at Queens! Thank you to our coaches and families for their support.
Our Road Runners will also be at LCVI this week – Go, Stingers, go! Again, I would like to thank our coaches and families, who make it possible to get to the events.
We did find another tick on a student last week. Please check your child(ren) for ticks daily.
Canteen – Friday, May 8
Mr. Freeland’s Grade 7 and 8 students will host another canteen on Friday. The students are fundraising for their Grade 7/ 8 Grad trip to Toronto. The canteen will be open during both Nutrition Breaks.

Live wires (small licorice) - 5 for $1.00
Our Grade 7 and 8 students will be available to help our younger students make their purchases. Thank you in advance for your support!
The Ministry of Education is visiting Storrington!
On Friday, May 8, Mr. Hedderson (Associate Superintendent of People, Strategy, Engagement, and Curriculum and Program Services: Math and FSL), representatives from the Ministry of Education, as well as LDSB’s Math Consultants, will be visiting Storrington to observe our math programming during the middle instructional block (11:30-1:10 pm). This visit is happening because Storrington is a math priority school, and we receive extra math support, such as our in-school Math Facilitator, Ms. Lisa Renaud. The group will be visiting/touring classes to observe the excellent math programming that happens daily at Storrington. The goal of the Ministry visits across Limestone schools this week is to gain insight and inform the Ministry of Education about how the three provincial actions (1 - fidelity of the curriculum, 2 - strengthening math content knowledge for teaching and 3 - knowing the math learner) are playing out in different schools in different Boards, and to provide LDSB with some feedback and next steps for consideration in our Math Achievement Action Plan. It will be a wonderful opportunity for Storrington educators and students to showcase their learning. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Mrs. Wellwood for more information.
