Happy Monday, Stingers Families!

As the weather begins to cool, we remind families to help students prepare for outdoor recesses by ensuring they have warm clothing, including an extra set of mittens, socks, and a hat in their backpack—just in case!

We would also like to remind families about head lice. Staying vigilant and checking regularly at home is the best way to help prevent, especially during these colder months. If you find lice at home and are comfortable letting us know, we can send out letters to others in the same class to help reduce the spread and reduce the chance of your child catching lice again.

Human Development and Sexual Health expectations

As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8.  Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child or children (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. **Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform families when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure (AP) 325: Exemption from Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures Student section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

Looking For Yard Donations

We are looking for donations of outdoor toys in good condition for use by students outside during recess. This could include trucks, cars, pots and pans, discs of wood for building, sports balls (footballs, volleyballs, tennis balls, soccer balls). If you have any of the above collecting dust in your garage or yard, but it’s still in good or excellent condition, please consider donating it to the school! We appreciate your support!

We are also looking for puzzles and board games (without any missing pieces) for use during indoor recess. Please send in any donations to your child’s teacher. Thank you!

Boo Bash

This was such a fun community event! The activity tables, the haunted house, the pizza, and drinks – it was all so well organized! Thank you to all the families who were able to attend! Congratulations to those who braved the haunted house! You are braver than I!

Our next School Council meeting is on November 20, 6:00 pm in the library. There will be a virtual link provided in case you want to attend from the comfort of your own home. We will be discussing our winter fundraisers and our holiday event. I will also be sharing some school-wide data.

Big applause to Emy and Claire for being so close to guessing the number of jellybeans in the jar! They both won fun prizes – including the jellybeans!

School Climate Survey

This week, LDSB families received an email from the Director on Thursday, October 30, at 4:00 pm. It included information about the upcoming student census: “The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12. Please note, there was one error in the message shared with you regarding the dates of the Student Census. The correct dates are November 24 to 28, 2025.

As a reminder, families who do not want their student(s) to complete the survey must contact their school Principal by Friday, November 14, 2025. Opting out means the student will not receive the survey in their e-mail inbox.

By better understanding students’ identities and experiences, we can remove barriers and better support students in accessing what they need to succeed.
