Family Update November 24-28, 2025

Happy Monday, Stingers Families!

This is a busy week for Storrington students, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated staff! We have 3 volleyball teams in tournaments, 2 classes going to Gould Lake, 1 class going to the Agnes Etherington Art Gallery, and a Touch the Truck event! We also have Quiet Time with Ms. Kennedy starting this week (details below).

Our Fresh from the Farm Fundraiser was a success – we thank you for your support! Our meat stick and cheese fundraiser ended on Friday. Volunteers from our School Council will organize the forms/money and place our order. Meat sticks and cheese orders will be available for pickup during our Winter Holiday Concert on December 16.

We will begin collecting donations for the Battersea community starting December 1st, so that everyone can have a magical Christmas. Our local charities need the following:

  • canned soups and stews
  • cereal (preferably Cheerios or Rice Krispies)

Food donations will begin December 1st. Classes will keep a tally of how many items are brought in, and the class that gives the most will receive a pizza party and be featured in the Frontenac News! It's the Great CAN-tastic Classroom Challenge!

Also, a gentle reminder to label your child’s clothing and winter accessories. We get a lot of lost items daily and we would be able to return them if they were labelled. Thank you!

December 16 – Holiday Concert

Our Winter Wonderland Holiday concert will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 5:30-6:30 pm.

If you missed my email about the Visual Art Opportunity being provided by Ms. Ridout, please read it here: https://limestoneschools-my.sharepoint.com/personal/wellwoods_limestone_on_ca/Documents/Desktop/Winter%20Wonderland%20Art%20Gallery%20%20(1).pdf

**Pizza order forms for the Snow Social will go home with students today. There is no cost for this event; we just need to know numbers, so we don’t order too much pizza!

**We do encourage you to bring a food donation to this event! Thank you!

December 6 – Battersea Santa Claus Parade

If you and your Storrington students are interested in participating in the Battersea Santa Claud Parade, please contact our School Council directly – pc.storrington@gmail.com. They will be organizing the group of participants. Here are some parade details:

“The annual Battersea Santa Claus parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m.. The parade will start at Storrington Public School and proceed down Battersea Road through the village.”

Quiet Time with Ms. Kennedy

Starting Wednesday, November 26, students will have the option to spend 2nd recess on Day 3s in the library for a calm, quiet space. Activities may include reading, drawing, meditating, or other silent, independent tasks. Ms. Kennedy will supervise and provide plain paper and mandala coloring pages for those who wish to use them. Students are asked to bring their own colouring tools with them. This opportunity will run every Wednesday at 2nd recess until the Christmas Break, after which we will review student needs to determine its continuation in the New Year.

Tentative Storrington Night at the Kingston Frontenacs; Game

Please mark your calendars for March 6; game time is 7:05 pm. Details about tickets will be shared in January. It’s going to be a fun evening! Let’s fill the stands!

White Elephant Sale

The Grade 8s will be working with School Council volunteers to host a White Elephant sale for all Storrington students. Money raised at this event will go towards the Grade 8 graduation. We will be asking the community for donations of new or gently used items soon. Items will be sold for 50 cents to 5 dollars. Items will be wrapped by our grade 8 students. The tentative dates for this sale are December 17th and 18th. Please stay tuned for more information.

Fun fact: The name comes from the idiom "white elephant," which describes a possession that is of little practical use or profit to its owner, but might have value to someone else
