Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly

Our April Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, May 11 at 10:00.  We would like to invite our Storrington community to join us for the assembly.  If you are interested in attending, we ask that you arrive at the school by 9:55, so we can start right at 10:00.

Storrington Track and Field

On Friday, May 12, we will be holding our Storrington Track and Field Meet for students in Grades 3 to 8.  The results from the day, as well as participation in practices, will help determine our school track and field team for the track and field meets at the Invista Centre.  Our Kindergarten and primary classes will be holding their own Play Day later in the school year.

Tick Checks

With the summer weather, students and classes are spending more time outside.  Unfortunately, this means that there’s a greater chance of coming in contact with ticks.  Although, classroom teachers will often have students do tick checks on themselves, we encourage families to do tick checks every night.

Kindergarten Online Registration for 2023-2024 School Year

If you have a child or know of a family who has a child that is Kindergarten age in September, the LDSB online registration for 2023-2024 school year is now open. You can register your child now for September, 2023 at Kindergarten Registration. To learn more about the Kindergarten program, please visit Discover Kindergarten in Limestone.  Thank you for choosing LDSB. #SeeYourselfInLimestone

Mabel’s Labels

We have a Mabel’s Labels fundraiser account for any families who are interested in purchasing labels.  If you are interested in purchasing labels, go to:  campaigns.mabelslabels.com and type Storrington Public School (Battersea) in the Search for the Name of Organization.  All proceeds from the label purchases will go to purchasing outdoor equipment.

Updates to Provincial Self-Screening Tool and Guidelines

Students and visitors need to continue to self-screen each day, prior to school.

-Students and staff should stay home when sick. Anyone who is feeling sick or has any new or worsening symptoms of illness (including COVID-19 symptoms) should stay home, until:

-their symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours for nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea), and

-they do not have a fever, and

-they do not develop any additional symptoms.

-For a total of 10 days after the start any illness symptom, students and staff should continue to wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including schools and childcare, unless under two years old) and avoid non-essential activities where mask removal is necessary.

Have a high school student in need of volunteer hours? We would be happy to have them help out and sign off for them.  Please share so that we can make sure that all of our events are awesome for the kids and your families!

Our last parent council meeting of the year is June 13th.  If you haven’t attended a meeting, come check one out. Weather permitting, we are hoping to do a parking lot meeting and enjoy the sunshine. Child care provided.

Meet the current council and see if this may be something you’d like to be involved with, have the summer to mull it over. Council positions will be available in September, along with just being able to come join in the fun!

Volunteer dates available:

May 13th (9-4pm)

June 13th (TBD)

If any of these are dates that work for your family please email or message us to get put on the list. Thank you
