Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

International Week of Deaf People

During the week of September 18 to September 22, our Storrington Stingers  will recognize the International Week of Deaf People.  The theme for this year’s International Week of Deaf People is Building Inclusive Communities for All.  On Friday, September 22, we will recognize the International Day of Sign Languages.  This year’s theme is A World Where Deaf People Everywhere Can Sign Anywhere.

This week, lessons and activities will be dedicated to recognizing and bringing awareness about the Deaf community and to promote the human rights of Deaf people

Terry Fox Run

On Friday, September 22, our Stingers will be participating in the Terry Fox Run.  We encourage our Stingers to bring in donations to help find a cure for cancer. Terry started and it is our job to carry on his legacy and work towards finding a cure.

Last year we raised $575.60 and this year have set a goal of raising $1000.  We know we can do it Stingers!

Students can bring their donations to the school or their families can donate online at

Storrington Stinger Soccer

We want to wish our Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Senior Boys soccer teams good luck this week as they all participate in tournaments.  Our Junior Boys will be participating on Monday, September 18, our Junior Girls will be participating on Tuesday, September 19  and our Senior Boys will be participating on Thursday, September 21.  Good luck to all our Stinger soccer players!

Late Buses

At times, our school buses are late to pick up students in the morning or are late getting to school to pick up students at the end of the day.  If your child’s bus is late, please visit www.triboard.ca and click on Delays and Cancellations to check on the status of your child’s bus.  As well, you can visit the school’s Twitter account, as we will try to tweet out any late bus information.

Corn Roast/Open House/Storrington School Council

We are very excited to once again host our annual Corn Roast and Open House.  Please mark Thursday, September 28 on your calendars.  The Corn Roast and Open House will begin at 5:00 and end at 6:30.  Our Storrington School Council will hold their first meeting of the school year, starting after the Corn Roast/Open House at 6:30.

News from our Parent Council for the 2023-2024 School Year

If you’re interested in representing our school community and making decisions to support our school, we welcome you to join our Storrington School Council.  We will be having our first parent council meeting on Thursday, September 28th at 6:30 pm, in the school library.

Available elected positions on the council are:

Chair

Co-Chair

Secretary

Treasurer

Social Media Liaison

Indigenous Family Representative

PIC (Parent Involvement Committee) Representative

If you’re interested in any of these positions or would like to nominate someone, please contact the school office for a nomination form or email our council at [email protected].

If you’re not interested in being an elected member, but would like to be more involved or see what we do, please feel free to join.  We are always looking for our school council to be reflective of the school community and the more hands, the lighter the work.

Have a high school student in need of volunteer hours? We would be happy to have them help out and sign off for them.

Volunteer dates available:

Sept 28th 6:30-8:30

Please share so that we can make sure that all of our events are awesome for the kids and your families!

If you have any questions please email us at [email protected] or contact us on our fb group.
