Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all our Stingers had a great weekend.

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Storrington Literacy Week

Our Storrington Stingers are going to recognize the importance of reading and writing during our Storrington Literacy Week from January 22 to January 26.

Below is a list of activities that we have scheduled for the week.

Monday, January 22

DEAR: Drop Everything and Read in the gym- Let’s make space and time for reading!

Tuesday, January 23

T-shirt Tuesday: Find some clothing (T-shirt, sweater, hat, etc.) that has any letters, numbers or symbols. Keep it appropriate and positive!

Wednesday, January 24

Words Matter - Bell Let’s Talk Day:  Use some speech bubbles to join the conversation about mental health and help create positive change.

Thursday, January 25

Reading Rocks, Wear Some Funky Socks or Favourite Character Dress Up Day: Wear some funky socks or dress up as your favourite book character.

Friday, January 26

Family Literacy Day: Bring your favourite book or a board game to school

Bell Let’s Talk Day

This year, Bell Let’s Talk Day is on Wednesday, January 24, and our Storrington Stingers are joining the conversation to help break down stigma and raise awareness around mental health.

Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly

Our December Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, January 25 at 10:00.  We would like to invite our Storrington community to join us for the assembly.  If you are interested in attending, we ask that you arrive at the school by 9:55, so we can start right at 10:00.

School Council Candy Grams Fundraiser

Storrington Student Council will be selling candy grams (to be delivered on Valentines Day) from Tuesday, January 23 until Monday, February 12.  Candy grams will cost $1.00 each.  With every 5 candy grams purchased, 1 candy gram will be donated anonymously to a student who would not otherwise receive one.  The student council will ensure that all students in Storrington will receive a candy gram and that no one feels left out.  The student council has voted and decided that all proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the library renovation and to purchase new books.  Thanks in advance to our Stinger community for your continued support of student council initiatives.
