Hello Storrington Stingers,
We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend and are well and healthy.
Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.
Pride Month
During the month of June, we will celebrate and recognize Pride Month. Not only is this a time to recognize the achievements and contributions of LGBTQ2S+ communities but to also reflect on our own impact in creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and has a place. During the month of June, students at Storrington will be focusing on inclusivity. We have some whole school activities planned where students will learn about inclusivity and what we can do as a school community to ensure that everyone feels included and welcome.
National Indigenous History Month
June is National Indigenous History Month. In recognizing National Indigenous History Month, we celebrate and honour the diversity, culture and history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Together, we all play a part in creating a positive and inclusive environment where everyone is accepted and diversity is honoured.
National Accessibility Week
The week of May 29 to June 2 is National Accessibility Week. It is a week dedicated to celebrating the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities, highlight the work of individuals, organizations and communities who are removing barriers, and reflect on our ongoing efforts to become a better, more accessible, more disability inclusive Canada. Every year National Accessibility Week begins on the last Sunday in May. On Wednesday, May 31, we ask all our Stingers to wear a red shirt to show their support for accessibility and inclusion.

Updates to Provincial Self-Screening Tool and Guidelines

-Students and staff should stay home when sick. Anyone who is feeling sick or has any new or worsening symptoms of illness (including COVID-19 symptoms) should stay home, until:
-their symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours for nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea), and
-they do not have a fever, and
-they do not develop any additional symptoms.
-For a total of 10 days after the start any illness symptom, students and staff should continue to wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including schools and childcare, unless under two years old) and avoid non-essential activities where mask removal is necessary.
News from our Storrington School Council
Our last parent council meeting of the year is June 13th. If you haven’t attended a meeting, come check one out. Weather permitting, we are hoping to do a parking lot meeting and enjoy the sunshine. Child care provided.
Meet the current council and see if this may be something you’d like to be involved with, have the summer to mull it over. Council positions will be available in September, along with just being able to come join in the fun!
