Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is from November 20 to November 24.  It is a week dedicated to bringing awareness to bullying and reflecting on the steps to prevent bullying behavior.  Throughout the week, staff will be implementing anti-bullying and bullying awareness lessons and activities into their daily programming.  Our Stingers are also encouraged to wear a pink shirt for our LDSB Pink Shirt Day on Friday, November 24.  Together, let’s show our Stinger pride and stand up to bullying.

Storrington’s Family Literacy Night

All of our Stinger families are invited to join us on Wednesday, November 29 from 5:30 to 6:30p, to learn about the Science of Reading.  Families will leave with recommendations on how to best support their child(ren) at home.  Families will receive take-home activities, treats and raffle prizes.  Childcare will be provided.  This week, students will receive an invitation and we are asking families to confirm their attendance by Friday, November 24th.

LDSB Strategic Planning

As a reminder, LDSB are now in the midst of Phase 2 of the LDSB Strategic Planning Consultation where we have invited families to participate in an online survey to provide feedback on the proposed Mission and Vision, and vote for a selection of Values to help anchor the future direction of the board.  This survey is open until November 24 at 4:00 p.m. and can be completed at https://bit.ly/Phase2LDSBStratPlanConsultation.

Storrington Holiday Presentation

We will be having a Storrington Holiday Celebration where classes will perform plays, songs, etc.  We are looking at having an in-school show on Tuesday, December 19 and a night performance on Wednesday, December 20 with Thursday, December 21 is our inclement weather date.  More information will be shared soon.

Storrington Student Council Cheerios Challenge

Our Storrington Student Council have organized a Cheerios Challenge where students are encouraged to donate Cheerios for the Food Bank.  The class that brings in the most boxes of Cheerios, will win a pizza and movie party! Competition starts on Mon. Nov. 20th to Fri. Dec. 15th.  We ask that students don’t bring in Honey Nut Cheerios.

Staffing News

Ms. Charlotte Brehl, who was our 0.11 Planning Time teacher, has accepted a 0.89 position at Centreville and Newburgh.  Through the staff process, we have hired Ms. Logan Turner, who will now be covering the 0.11 position, teaching both our Grade 1/2 classes.  Please join us in wishing Ms. Brehl all the best in her new role and we look forward to working with Ms. Turner.

We also have a new nighttime custodian.  Please join us in welcoming Ms. Leslie Deline as our new nighttime custodian.

Hot Lunch Update

We are in the process of transferring our hot lunches over to Ginos Pizza.  Families will be able to purchase pizza on Wednesdays and then alternate between pasta and subs on Fridays.  We are hoping to have the change go live on the calendar for ordering by Monday, November 20, with deliveries starting the week of the 27th.  Families who have pre-purchased hot lunches will be credited for their purchases.

Storrington Accessories and Apparel Store

Storrington Public School now has an online clothing store where families can purchase Stinger accessories and apparel.  The online store remains open all year round. To access the online clothing store, please visit: https://specialtytrophies.ca/storringtonps/
